Who this applies to

This policy covers the Recurring Charge Guard browser extension ("the extension," "we," "us"). By installing and using the extension, you agree to the practices described here.

What the extension does

The extension reads the content of web pages you visit to detect language and elements associated with recurring or subscription charges (for example, "auto-renew," free-trial terms, or a price shown per month). When it finds them, it can warn you, let you set a cancellation reminder, and keep a list of flagged sites so it can remind you before a charge.

What we collect

We do not collect personal information to profile or sell. Specifically:

• We do not sell your data, and we do not use analytics, advertising, fingerprinting, or third-party tracking.
• Page scanning happens locally on your device. We do not send your browsing history or the content of the pages you visit to our servers.
• The core (free) features work with no account and no payment information. The paid Premium plan involves a payment processor and an optional sync feature — see "Premium features and data" below.

What is stored, and where

To do its job the extension saves a small amount of data in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local): the website names that triggered a warning, an estimated price and trial length detected from the page, the status you set (for example, "cancelled"), your cancel-by reminders, and the list of sites you have marked as trusted. By default this stays on your device. You can erase it at any time with the "Clear all tracked" button, by removing a trusted site, or by removing the extension.

Premium features and data

If you choose a paid Premium plan, two additional data flows apply:

• Payments are handled by a third-party payment processor (ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe). When you subscribe, your email and payment details are provided to and held by that processor under its own privacy policy — not by us. The extension never sees or stores your card details.
• Cross-device sync (optional, Premium) mirrors your tracked subscriptions through your browser's account-synced storage (chrome.storage.sync) so the list follows you across devices where you are signed into the same browser account. This travels through your own browser/Google account, not through our servers, and we do not receive it.

Permissions and why they're needed

• Read the pages you visit (content script): to scan the visible page for recurring-charge language at checkout.
• Storage: to save your tracked subscriptions and settings locally on your device.
• Alarms: to schedule a reminder before a subscription's cancel-by date.
• Notifications: to show that reminder.

Links to other sites

The extension may open a service's own cancellation or account page when you ask it to. Those pages are operated by the respective companies and are subject to their own privacy policies, not this one.

Children

The extension is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised version at this URL.
